Almaguin Highlands Community Living is now accepting applications for the position of:
Transitions Worker (Part-Time)

This is an external posting for an existing vacancy.
In conjunction with the Family Support Supervisor, the Part-Time Transitions Worker will provide support to transitional aged youth and those who are on the Family Support caseload. This position will include providing direct support to the youth in the program, completing documentation and planning for the people in the program based on individual needs. The transitions worker will identify needs, plan, and execute small group programming as well as contribute to individual Transition planning for youth receiving services.
The starting salary is $24.83 hourly, with a minimum of 30 hours per bi-weekly pay period. We also offer compensation in lieu of benefits (4.75%) and a Group Pension Plan. The current schedule includes two dayshifts per week (8:30 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.), with some flexibility available based on operational needs and the successful candidate’s availability.
Occasional additional hours may be required, including extra days, evening, and weekend shifts. Weekend shifts occur no more than once every three weekends, with a minimum of two weeks’ notice provided.
The successful applicant will possess:
· Post Secondary Degree/Diploma in the Social Services field or equivalent experience in the field.
· Minimum one year experience providing life skills support to persons with developmental disabilities; demonstrated knowledge and skills in design, implementation and evaluation of programming to meet the support needs of people receiving services.
· Knowledgeable about community resources available to youth and families
· Knowledge of behavioural intervention techniques and/or Focus on Autism CPI would be an asset
· Strong communication skills, both oral and written as well as above average interpersonal skills.
· Proven ability to work in a team environment and independently with minimum supervision.
· A good punctuality and attendance record.
· A valid Class ‘G’ driver’s license with $1,000,000 liability insurance and access to a reliable vehicle with proper endorsement for transporting individuals.
· Current certification in First Aid and CPR or willingness to obtain.
· Crisis Prevention & Intervention certification or willingness to obtain.
· Favourable police record check.
· Able to meet physical demands of position.
