Shop Helper / Apprentice Mechanic

We are a growing outdoor power equipment dealership located in central Muskoka, and we’re looking to add a Shop Helper / Apprentice Mechanic to our team.

This is a great opportunity for someone who has recently finished school and is eager to start a hands-on, long-term career in the mechanical trades. You’ll begin as a shop helper, supporting day-to-day operations, and gradually transition into an apprentice small engine mechanic role as your skills develop.

If you have a positive attitude, are reliable, and have a genuine interest in learning the trade, we’re willing to train the right person.

Responsibilities Include:

• Assisting mechanics with repairs and maintenance of small engines and outdoor power equipment (e.g. lawn mowers, chainsaws, trimmers, snow blowers)
• Performing general shop cleanup and organization
• Receiving, unpacking, and organizing parts and inventory
• Preparing equipment for service or delivery
• Basic troubleshooting and inspections under supervision
• Learning and following all safety procedures and shop protocols

Skills & Qualifications:

• Basic mechanical aptitude and a genuine interest in engines, tools, or equipment
• Strong willingness to learn and take direction
• Ability to use hand and power tools safely
• Basic computer skills (e.g. looking up parts, entering data)
• Good organizational skills and attention to detail
• Ability to work independently and as part of a small team
• Punctual, dependable, and physically capable of lifting 50 lbs
• Additional Assets (Not Required but a Bonus):
• Prior experience with small engines or tools
• Driver’s license
• High school shop or tech courses
• Customer service experience

Wage: Starting at $18/hour, depending on experience and training required.
Position: Full-time
