Part Time Activity Aide Must be available for days, evenings and weekends

PURPOSE:  To assist the Activation Coordinator in:

• Providing an activity program that will keep the residents’ minds, bodies and spirits alert, well and happy by enriching attitudes, interests and experience
• Encouraging creative, inventive and expressional efforts
• Encouraging group spirit and help make every resident feel that he/she belongs

QUALIFICATIONS:

• able to follow oral and written directions
• pleasant and courteous
• ability to accept and carry out instructions/directions
• must have empathy for and ability to get along with the elderly
• must have decision making ability
• patience, tolerance and politeness when responding to Residents, and visitors

JOB DESCRIPTION:

• Visiting new residents and accompany them to their first activity, introducing them to fellow residents
• Assisting residents with crafts, encouraging them to be as independent as possible
• Assist Activation Coordinator with planned activities, set up and clean up (including wheelchair transfers)
• Other duties as required
