Are you a highly skilled Paint Shop Specialist (Paint Sprayer) with an eye for flawless finishing and a passion for precision? Muskoka Lumber, a trusted supplier of quality building materials in the region, is looking for an experienced and dedicated professional to join our team.
In this hands-on, detail-oriented role, you will be responsible for preparing materials and applying high-quality paint, stain, and protective coatings to various lumber and millwork products. Key Responsibilities:
As a Paint Shop Specialist (Paint Sprayer), you will be the expert responsible for our finished product quality, ensuring every product meets our high standards. In this role, you will:
- Prepare surfaces by thoroughly clean, sand, and smooth wood surfaces in preparation for finishing, ensuring optimal adhesion and a perfect final look.
- Accurately select, mix, and match paints, stains, and lacquers to achieve the required color, shade, and consistency for various projects and customer specifications.
- Set up and operate high-volume low-pressure (HVLP) and other professional spray equipment to apply an even, consistent layer of primer, stain, sealer, and top coats.
- Inspect finished products for quality, identifying and correcting any defects like drips, runs, or uneven coverage before curing, ensuring the highest quality of products.
- Perform routine cleaning, maintenance, and adjustments on spray guns, finishing booths, ventilation systems, and related equipment to ensure optimal performance and longevity.
- Ensure safety is a top priority by managing and tracking paint and solvent inventory. Adhering strictly to all health, safety, and environmental guidelines, including the proper use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and safe handling/disposal of hazardous materials.
What you bring:
At Muskoka Lumber, we are looking for a professional who combines technical skill with a strong work ethic and attention to detail. Required skills, abilities and attributes:
- Proven Experience: Minimum of 3+ years of experience as a Paint Sprayer or Paint Technician, preferably working with wood products, millwork, or cabinetry.
- Technical Proficiency: In-depth knowledge of paint and stain products (water-based and solvent-based), thinning agents, application techniques, and drying methods.
- Precision and Detail: An exceptional eye for detail, color matching, and the ability to maintain concentration for extended periods to ensure a flawless finish.
- Tool Handling: Proficient in setting up, operating, and maintaining all spray equipment, including various spray guns, air compressors, and sanding tools.
- Reliability: Reliable, punctual, and able to work independently to manage workflow and meet production deadlines.
- Safety Focus: Strong understanding of workplace health and safety protocols related to paint booths, ventilation, and hazardous material handling.
- Physical Abilities: Must be physically able to stand for long periods and lift materials from 50 to 80lbs.
- Strong customer service mindset with a friendly, professional approach
