In this active, physical role, your focus on safety, accuracy, and customer support will help ensure a smooth and efficient yard operation. Whether you’re guiding daily operations, loading orders, maintaining stock, or keeping the yard tidy, you’ll be an important part of our hardworking team that keeps Muskoka building.

Key Responsibilities: 

As a Yard Supervisor (Mactier Lumber Yard) in our lumber yard at Muskoka Lumber, you’ll play a critical role in the day-to-day yard operations -supporting both customer satisfaction and team efficiency.

  • Assign and follow up on tasks within the Lumber Yard, including supporting attendance, completion and follow-up to staff training sessions
  • Assist with maintenance of adequate training and certification maintenance, as required, to maintain safe equipment operation
  • Load and unload materials from delivery trucks and customer vehicles, assist and provide guidance to staff with building assigned loads.
  • Assist other members of the team by checking their loads and paperwork on deliveries
  • Prepare customer orders accurately based on sales orders and delivery slips
  • Operate forklifts and other yard equipment safely (after receiving proper certification)
  • Receive and verify incoming shipments against bills of lading or purchase orders
  • Report damaged, missing, or incorrect inventory to the Receiving Clerk or Supervisor
  • Perform regular yard and warehouse housekeeping duties
  • Complete lawn maintenance tasks as needed, including grass cutting and trimming
  • Maintain clear and safe aisles, walkways, and loading zones
  • Assist customers in locating and loading materials in a courteous and helpful manner
  • Follow and promote all company health and safety policies, including Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) use and hazard reporting; promote a positive and safe team environment
  • Participate in training sessions and toolbox talks as scheduled
  • Support other tasks or departments as required by Management, including completing deliveries in the absence of delivery staff

  • 2-3 years' experience in a lumber yard, warehouse, or construction setting
  • Strong working knowledge of lumber and building materials
  • Comfortable with basic measurement, order picking, and material handling
  • Physically capable of performing the essential duties of the role, including regular lifting of up to 80 lbs and working outdoors in various weather conditions
  • Reliable, punctual, and able to work independently or as part of a team
  • Forklift certification is an asset (training available if not yet certified)
  • Safety-first mindset with strong attention to detail
  • Professional and courteous with customers and co-workers
  • Willingness to learn and contribute to a positive, team-oriented workplace
