Wilshire Works, a Bracebridge-based entrepreneurial manufacturing company established in 2004, has successfully developed and commercialized a family of niche infection control products implemented in healthcare facilities. Our products are proudly exported to many countries. We purchase inputs from Ontario-based suppliers to support assembly, packaging and shipping from our facility. We operate out of a recently built clean, LED lit, air conditioned and well maintained facility complete with a product development suite.

Our operations are in need of a technically minded, innovative person who is capable of using a wide variety of tools to accomplish routine maintenance, electrical and mechanical repairs, machine upgrades, installs and various other projects that will make every day a new challenge. Maintaining a safety first and do it right mind set is imperative. The company provides special PPE including safety googles, hearing protection, face shield, hard hat, breathing protection, shop coat and overalls when needed.

In the new year, Wilshire Works will be initiating a new major initiative to modify a refrigerated shipping container to provide an air conditioned clean room space for a new production line. This project will require the supervised installation of flooring, man doors, windows, breaker panel, electrical conduit for LED lighting, outlets, power venting, heat pump, transformer and phase converter. Trades will be hired when needed.

We will interview candidates that have developed a wide spectrum of technical experiences and the confidence and interest to learn new skills. During the first month of employment I will allocate basic technical challenges to get a feel for your general competence including planning, tool use, attitude toward safety, innovation and confidence level. If some skill sets are weak I will provide coaching or training toward improving your competence. Depending on your spectrum of expertise, work experience, skills development project tasks may include:

- prepare a hand drawn orthographic drawing on graph paper of a simple object

- draw an engineered outline or schematic using CAD

- design and print simple 3D printed parts

- demonstrate electronic soldering techniques for various wiring projects

- repair circuit boards with cold solder terminals

- develop a computer-based (Excel) scheduled preventative maintenance program for production equipment, building systems and support equipment

- perform routine maintenance tasks

- read and explain an automation control schematic

- design a basic wiring layout for a house wiring installation

- repair an electric motor with a faulty centrifugal switch or starter capacitor

- perform or learn basic MIG welding skills to rebuild a steel utility trailer

- assist with proposed production line automation control system upgrade

- participate in production, assembly, packaging and shipping processes with the goal of analyzing ergonomics toward improving safety, ergonomics and ways to reduce production task takt times

- from above results design and fabricate process station improvements to address operator complaints

- assist with improving quality control and quality assurance testing protocols, data recording processes, data analysis and reporting

- design and install a building perimeter security camera system and a driveway entrance alert system

- participate in new product development initiatives using CAD, prototyping, machine shop equipment, hand and power tools

- assist with design and installation of AC and DC marine electrification projects

- assist with conversion of an ICE go kart into a quiet electric powered speed demon

- perform other tasks as needed depending on skill sets and work experience

- other tasks as directed to support operations

- assist with implementation of new $500K extrusion process line including complete service wiring and LED lighting and ventilation

- upgrade take up spooling control system of bespoke automated extrusion profile winder machine

- install electrical wall heater, receiving room ceiling fan and loading door opener requiring bending conduit for electrical services

- design and fabricate a durable steel frame canoe tripping trailer to secure 4 canoes with sheltered and locked storage for 4 back packs and supplies on stock steel trailer

- mix and apply 2-part epoxy and fiberglass cloth for a variety of composite projects

- develop control solutions using Raspberry Pi and Ardueno micro computers
