The Opportunity

We are currently looking for a driven individual to join our team as a Temporary Full-Time Finance Assistant. The position will be in Espanola. This position is a hybrid model of in office and remote work within our Finance Department. You will be required to have a reliable internet connection and meet certain standards for remote work.

In this position, you help us provide:

  • Efficient, error-free payroll processing.
  • Correction of any financial errors in reporting with regards to payroll and ensure that employees receive corrected pay.
  • Payroll reports, review staffing pattern hours and reconcile differences and make necessary remittances to payroll.
  • Tracking of purchase orders and ensure all are processed correctly.
  • Administrative duties of coding, input and recording purchase invoices in the G/L account for processing as well as inputting accounts receivables, tracking and reporting.
  • Assistance with the maintenance of Ministry cash flows and alert supervisor of any discrepancies.
  • Assistance with completion of special projects as directed by the supervisor and/or director.
  • Balancing of expenses to the G/L and prepare required working papers using Excel.
  • Annual and monthly preparation payments and documentation for employer/employee contributions for Employer Health Tax, Employment Insurance and Pension Plan.
  • Assistance with the preparation of bank reconciliations.
  • Recording of receipts for all deposits.
  • Preparation of monthly rental charges.
  • Assistance with collection calls to other receivable overdue accounts.
  • Scanning and coding accounts payable invoices in electronic filing system.

Qualifications and Specific Skills:

Education: Minimum of a 3-year Accounting Diploma from a recognized Canadian accredited college.

Experience: Minimum of 1 year experience in an accounting environment.

Computer Skills: Must possess excellent computer skills as well as demonstrated functional ability in accounting software.

Driver’s License: Must possess a valid Ontario driver’s license with an insured vehicle for employment related use.

Salary: $32.60/hour (35 hours per week)
