Job Description:

Almaguin Adult Learning Centre is looking for someone who wants to make a difference in their community! We are seeking an intern to fill our one-year internship position, working primarily at our South River centre, with occasional travel to our centres in Burk’s Falls and Powassan.

What we offer:

  • An opportunity to make a big difference in peoples’ lives.
  • A chance to sharpen your office, interpersonal, and social networking skills with hands-on practice and support.
  • An energetic, caring, and supportive work environment. AALC succeeds when everyone succeeds.
  • Experience in the not-for-profit, social services and education sectors – we are a boots on the ground agency that provides creative solutions and lasting change for our clients.

We are looking for someone who is:

  • Passionate about learning and skills development – their own and those of others.
  • A great communicator and active listener, and able to connect with learners of all types.
  • Adept at using technology, able to troubleshoot technical difficulties, with working knowledge of MS Word/Excel/PowerPoint and Google Workspace (Google Drive, Gmail and Google Docs).
  • Organized and creative; one size almost never fits all but we help our learners get there in the end.

  You may be involved in:

  • Facilitating in-person and virtual learning for small groups, and creating training plans to meet client goals.
  • Assisting in fundraising campaigns and using MS Office and social media for marketing and outreach.
  • Assisting in developing and implementing strategies for outreach to new clients and partner agencies.

Funding for this internship is provided by NOHFC’s People & Talent Program.  To qualify you:

  • Must be either new to the workforce, pursuing a new career, un- or under-employed and entering a new field,
  • Have not previously participated in NOHFC’s People & Talent Program,
  • Must be at least 18 years of age, and
  • Must reside in Northern Ontario and be legally entitled to work in Canada.

 Qualifications:

  • Have a valid Ontario driver’s license and access to a vehicle and/or means to travel to different learning centres, as required.
  • Must be a high school graduate

Pay Rate: $19 per hour, 35 hours per week, Monday to Friday 9 am – 4 pm

Application Deadline: Friday, January 31, 2025
