Join the Muskoka Lumber Team in Port Carling!

Who we are:

Muskoka Lumber is a growing, professionally managed $80M regional business undergoing an exciting transition toward a modernized operating model. We are seeking an Accounts Receivable Specialist to serve as a cornerstone of our Finance team. This is a critical role responsible for safeguarding cash flow and strengthening financial controls across our multi-division operations.

This position is best suited for a highly organized, detail-oriented finance professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment and enjoys bringing structure to complex processes. As we continue to scale, this role offers a clear growth path into senior credit management, shared services leadership, or broader corporate finance responsibilities.

Key Responsibilities:

As the Accounts Receivable Specialist, you will ensure the accurate, timely, and controlled processing of customer payments and credit administration. In this role, you will:

  • Manage Cash Application: Post customer payments (EFT, cheque, credit card) and accurately reconcile multiple clearing accounts across all branches using BisTrack.
  • Drive Collections & Credit: Monitor customer exposures, conduct proactive collection calls, and recommend credit holds to maintain professional but firm enforcement standards.
  • Maintain Master Data: Set up new accounts and manage customer master data, including price profiles, discount structures, and job sub-account allocations.
  • Ensure Revenue Completeness: Perform monthly Open Order Reviews and collaborate with Branch Managers to ensure unbilled sales orders are converted to invoices timely
  • Support Financial Modernization: Contribute to ERP workflow improvements, maintain documented AR procedures, and assist with month-end cutoff discipline.
  • Act as a Liaison: Serve as the primary finance contact for AR-related inquiries from customers, sales teams, and manufacturing departments.

What you bring:

At Muskoka Lumber, we look for professionals who balance technical proficiency with a customer-centric mindset. Required skills, abilities, and attributes:

  • Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Finance, or equivalent experience.
  • 3–5 years of Accounts Receivable experience, preferably within manufacturing, distribution, or construction supply.
  • Technical Proficiency: Strong Excel skills (VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, pivot tables) and experience with ERP systems (Epicor/BisTrack, Dynamics, Sage, or similar).
  • Reconciliation Skills: Proven ability to interpret complex customer statements, reconcile clearing accounts, and resolve posting discrepancies.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills for navigating disputes and maintaining professional relationships with high-volume clients.
  • Adaptability: A proactive approach to working within a finance team undergoing transition and a willingness to contribute to new process standardization.

Why You’ll Love Working with Us:

We know the value of hard work—and we make sure it’s rewarded in ways that matter, both on the job and at home:

  • No regularly scheduled weekend shifts – Enjoy your time off with a reliable Monday to Friday schedule
  • Standard daytime hours – Predictable work hours that support a balanced lifestyle
  • Enjoy work-life balance — Muskoka Lumber stores are closed on most (if not all) statutory holidays, giving you more time for family, rest, and personal pursuits.
