Library Assistant - Baysville Branch

17 Hours per week (Sat 10am-2pm; Tues 12pm-7pm; Wed 11am-5pm)

The successful candidate will need to create, plan and deliver exciting, fun, educational, and responsive
programs and events for all ages. Programs need to be innovative and embrace emerging technology.
Additional responsibilities include but are not limited to:
• Provide excellent customer service to patrons in a courteous and professional manner.
• Answer and troubleshoot computer related queries to include but not limited to: wireless access, web
searches, email use, device operation, our digital library, apps, social media sites and document printing
and/or scanning.
• Assist with marketing, advertising, creation and graphic design of various materials to promote the library
and its programs.
• Assist in maintaining the library website to reflect current programming and respond to customer feedback.
• Process library materials (ie retrieval, cataloguing, interlibrary loans)
• Handle cash and electronic financial transactions

• Education at the Grade 12 level or equivalent is required.
• Demonstrated customer service experience of 12-24 months
• Demonstrated experience planning and delivering children’s programming
• Previous library experience and training (technician or OLS Excel library training) a definite asset
• Excellent interpersonal and communication (written and oral) skills.
• Ability to work independently as well as an effective team member.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff and patrons.
• Strong computer skills with various operating systems, to include but not limited to: Word, Excel, Mac
OS, tablets, readers, smart phones, Google docs, various social media platforms, Makerspace
equipment, with a willingness to learn and embrace emerging technology.
• Ability to do some lifting up to 40 lbs.
• Strong ability to multi-task and work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining a high level of
attention to detail.
• Ability to adapt to change and to work collaboratively at either the Dwight or Baysville branches.

This position has an hourly wage starting at $24.99
