Employment North is a non-profit, community-based agency committed to supporting individuals on their path to meaningful employment. We serve the East Parry Sound District and communities surrounding Gravenhurst, providing free, accessible employment services to adults, newcomers, persons with disabilities, students, and youth.

The Role: Employment Specialist

As an Employment Specialist, you’ll support job seekers in reaching their goals, using a compassionate, client-centred approach. Whether you’re leading a workshop, building connections with local employers, or helping someone rewrite their resume, your work will change lives for the better.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide one-on-one employment counselling, including resume and cover letter support, interview prep, and career exploration
  • Facilitate workshops and group sessions on job search strategies, skill development, and employment readiness
  • Collaborate with employers to understand staffing needs and help connect them with job-ready candidates
  • Support clients facing barriers to employment with personalized, strength-based guidance
  • Maintain accurate and confidential records of client interactions and employment outcomes

What You Bring:

  • A diploma or degree in Social Services, Human Services, Career Development, or related field
  • Strong interpersonal skills with a trauma-informed, client-focused mindset
  • Excellent communication—both written and verbal
  • Proficiency in digital tools and client data systems
  • Ability to build rapport with diverse populations
  • Organizational skills and the ability to manage a caseload effectively
  • Experience in employment services, career counselling, social work, or recruiting is an asset

Additional Requirements:

  • Clear Criminal Record Check
  • Valid driver’s license and access to a reliable vehicle
