Reporting to the Pharmacy Manager, as part of a multidisciplinary team,
The Pharmacy Assistant will be responsible for duties as outlined below.
PRIMARY RESPONSBILITIES:
- Completing best possible medication history including consultation with patient and/or family
- Dispensing of medications, including refill prescriptions and outpatient prescriptions
- Maintaining established prescription levels, including narcotics and controlled substances
- Compounding and packaging of sterile and non-sterile medications including bio-hazardous agents in acceptance of manufacturing practice and WHMIS guidelines
- Conducting continuous improvement audits as designated, including expiration date and monitoring and medication area inspections
- Performing computerized profiling and auditing tasks as trained
- Performing miscellaneous projects, filing and clerical duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
- Good interpersonal and team skills
- Basic computer skills
PHYSICAL EFFORT AND WORKING CONDITIONS:
- Extensive walking periods, prolonged standing
- Able to lift up to 50lbs
- Intense visual, listening and mental concentration
- Able to manage time effectively in order to meet deadlines
