TITLE: Support Worker I – Regular Part Time Line
HOURS OF WORK: Minimum of 47 hours bi-weekly
RATE OF PAY: Starting wage $24.20 hourly – as per Collective Agreement
LOCATION: South River
DESCRIPTION:
Under the direct supervision of the Adult Services Supervisor, you will provide individualized supports to the people who receive services at a residential program in South River. Working cooperatively with fellow team members, the successful applicant will: ensure and maintain a coordinated and integrated approach to services and program delivery; support/motivate/counsel people in their daily living activities, according to their needs, personal goals and Individual Service Agreement; provide a variety of cleaning, laundry & household duties as needed. Scheduled hours may include a combination of day, evening & weekend shifts, to a minimum of 47 hours in each two week period.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Post Secondary Degree/Diploma in the Social Services field or equivalent experience in the field.
- Minimum one year experience providing life skills support to persons with developmental disabilities; demonstrated knowledge and skills in design, implementation and evaluation of programming to meet the support needs of people receiving services.
- Knowledge of behavioural intervention techniques and/or Focus on Autism CPI would be an asset
- Strong communication skills, both oral and written as well as above average interpersonal skills.
- Proven ability to work in a team environment and independently with minimum supervision.
- A good punctuality and attendance record.
- A valid Class ‘G’ driver’s license with $1,000,000 liability insurance and access to a reliable vehicle with proper endorsement for transporting individuals.
- Current certification in First Aid and CPR would be an asset.
- Crisis Prevention & Intervention certification would be an asset.
- Favourable police record check
- Able to meet physical demands of position.
