Position: Pharmacy Assistant - Part-time, with potential for full-time hours

Responsibilities:

  • Medication Dispensing: Assist pharmacists in preparing and dispensing medications by measuring, counting, and packaging them accurately. This includes labeling medication containers with relevant information.
  • Inventory Management: Monitor and manage the inventory of medications and supplies. This involves receiving, storing, and organizing stock, as well as checking expiration dates and removing expired or damaged products.
  • Customer Service: Interact with customers and provide assistance with their medication-related queries. This can include answering questions about medications, dosage instructions, potential side effects, and any other concerns they may have.
  • Prescription Processing: Receive and process prescription orders from customers or healthcare professionals. This includes verifying information, entering data into the pharmacy system, and ensuring the prescription is properly filled.
  • Administrative Tasks: Handle various administrative duties, such as maintaining patient records, filing insurance claims, managing paperwork related to prescriptions, and organizing pharmacy files and documents.
  • Cash Handling: Operate the cash register, handle cash transactions, and process payments for medications and other products.
  • Patient Education: Provide basic information to patients about their medications, refills, status of Rx 
  • Assisting with Compounding: In some cases, pharmacy assistants may assist with the compounding of medications, which involves preparing specialized formulations based on specific prescriptions.
  • Use of Pharmacy Technology: Utilize pharmacy software systems and technology for tasks such as inventory management, prescription processing, and maintaining patient records.
  • Adhering to Regulations: Follow pharmacy regulations, ethical standards, and maintain patient confidentiality in all aspects of their work.

Qualifications:

-Comfortable with technology (RX dispensing,inventory,3dparty drug plans, adjudication is all done on the computer with Kroll Rx software)
-Comfortable with math (calculations often required)
-Customer service -we are dealing with the public in a relatively busy store.
-Strong work ethic
-Multitasking
- Strong attendance ( rx dept is heart of the store)
