Kitchen Porter (Seasonal Contract, Fixed-Term – 2026 Season)

Position Overview
Northridge Inn & Resort is seeking two (2) reliable and motivated Kitchen Porters to join our culinary team for the 2026 wedding and summer season.
This is a seasonal, fixed-term position supporting banquet, wedding, and resort food service operations. The Kitchen Porter plays an essential role in maintaining kitchen cleanliness, food safety standards, and operational efficiency in a fast-paced hospitality environment.
Term of Employment
● Seasonal Fixed-Term Contract
● Anticipated Start Date: May 2026
● Anticipated End Date: November 2026
● Seasonal position with variable hours based on wedding bookings, resort occupancy, and operational needs.
This position is seasonal in nature. Employment will end at the conclusion of the fixed term unless otherwise agreed in writing. There is no guarantee of renewal or contract extension beyond the stated term.
Employment is governed by the Ontario Employment Standards Act, 2000 (ESA).
Compensation
● $19.00 per hour
● Vacation pay provided in accordance with the ESA
● Overtime pay in accordance with the ESA (where applicable)
● Public holiday pay provided in accordance with the ESA (where eligibility requirements are met)
Northridge Inn & Resort does not provide tip or gratuity distribution for this position.
Hours of Work
● Hours vary based on wedding bookings, resort occupancy, and operational needs.
● Shifts may include early mornings, evenings, weekends, and public holidays.
● Overtime is paid in accordance with the ESA for hours worked beyond the applicable weekly threshold.
Schedules are provided in advance where possible; however, flexibility is required due to the event-based nature of the business.
Key Responsibilities
● Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of the dishwashing and scullery areas
● Operate dishwashing equipment safely and efficiently
● Ensure proper dilution, handling, and storage of cleaning chemicals
● Follow all Food Safety, Public Health, WHMIS, and Occupational Health & Safety requirements
● Assist with basic food preparation as directed by culinary leadership
● Support buffet and banquet service by restocking and maintaining organization
● Properly receive, label, and store food deliveries (dry goods, fresh produce, frozen items)
● Store kitchen equipment, flatware, and service ware appropriately
● Maintain an organized, safe, and hazard-free work environment
● Perform other duties as reasonably assigned to support kitchen and event operations
Qualifications
● Previous experience in a commercial kitchen or food service environment preferred
● Valid Food Handler Certificate (required prior to start date)
● WHMIS certification (training may be provided)
● Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, team-based environment
● Strong communication skills
● Physically able to lift up to 40 lbs and stand for extended periods
● Reliable transportation to and from the workplace
Working Conditions
● Indoor commercial kitchen environment
● Exposure to heat, humidity, cleaning chemicals, and noise
● Extended standing, lifting, bending, and repetitive motion
● High-volume service during weddings and peak season
Uniform Requirements
● Chef coat, apron, and headwear provided by Northridge Inn & Resort
● Employees must provide:
○ Black work pants
○ Closed-toe, non-slip footwear
