Role Overview
Northridge Inn & Resort is seeking a reliable and motivated Assistant Grounds
Steward to support the maintenance and presentation of the resort’s outdoor
spaces and event areas during the 2026 season.
Working under the guidance of the Operations & Facilities Manager, and in
partnership with the Property & Grounds Steward, this role assists with maintaining
Northridge’s landscaped grounds, pathways, gardens, and outdoor facilities to
ensure they remain safe, functional, and visually beautiful for guests and events.
The Assistant Grounds Steward also plays an important role in supporting
wedding and event setup and tear-down, particularly during busy weekends
throughout the summer season.
This role is ideal for individuals who enjoy working outdoors, take pride in
maintaining beautiful spaces, and thrive in a collaborative team environment.
Employment Term
This is a part-time seasonal, fixed-term position from May 2026 through October
2026.
Employment will conclude at the end of the seasonal contract term unless
otherwise extended in writing. There is no guarantee of renewal or extension
beyond the stated contract period.
Depending on operational needs, early start opportunities may be available for
candidates who are able to assist with spring property preparation and seasonal
opening tasks.
Team members may also assist with end-of-season closing procedures, including
property cleanup, equipment storage, and preparing the grounds for
winterization.
Schedules will vary based on operational needs and weather conditions.
Weekend availability is required, particularly during the peak wedding season.
Compensation
$17.60 – $20.00 per hour, based on experience.
This position is not eligible for gratuities or tip pools.
Staff accommodation is not provided for this role.
Key Responsibilities
Grounds & Property Care
• Assist with the general upkeep of the resort grounds, including mowing,
trimming, raking, watering, and seasonal cleanup
• Maintain pathways, patios, lawns, gardens, and outdoor guest areas to
ensure they remain safe, tidy, and visually appealing
• Support the upkeep of outdoor furniture, fire pits, signage, and guest-use
areas across the property
• Assist with light maintenance tasks such as painting, basic repairs, and
small improvement projects as directed
Event & Wedding Support
• Assist with setup and tear-down of outdoor wedding and event spaces,
including ceremony areas and reception locations
• Help arrange tables, chairs, tents, décor elements, and event
infrastructure as directed by the events and operations teams
• Monitor outdoor event spaces and ensure they remain clean, safe, and
guest-ready throughout events
• Support quick resets of outdoor areas between events when required
Equipment & Safety
• Safely operate groundskeeping equipment such as lawn mowers,
trimmers, and other power tools when trained and authorized
• Maintain tools and equipment in good working order and report any
issues to supervisors
• Follow all workplace health and safety procedures when handling
equipment, materials, and outdoor tasks
Team Collaboration
• Work collaboratively with the Property & Grounds Steward, Operations
team, and Events team to support daily operational needs
• Respond to changing priorities and assist with urgent grounds or facility
tasks when required
• Maintain a professional and respectful presence while working in guest
areas
The Ideal Candidate Will Have
• A strong work ethic and a hands-on, team-oriented attitude
• Enjoyment of outdoor work and maintaining beautiful natural spaces
• Ability to work independently while also contributing to a collaborative
team environment
• Strong attention to detail and pride in keeping spaces clean, organized,
and well maintained
• Flexibility to assist with event setup and operational tasks when needed
Previous experience in landscaping, groundskeeping, construction, or general
maintenance is considered an asset but not required.
Applicants must have reliable transportation to and from the property.
Physical Requirements
This role involves regular outdoor physical work and requires:
• Standing, walking, and moving around the property for extended periods
• Frequent bending, lifting, and carrying materials
• Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs
• Working outdoors in varying weather conditions throughout the season
Reporting Structure
Reports directly to the:
Operations and Facilities Manager and works alongside the Property & Grounds
Steward
The role works closely with the Operations & Facilities Manager and Events team
during event preparation and execution.
