The Near North Environment Education Centre is looking for up to 2 assistant coordinators to help run either our Community Adventure Program for children aged 6-13 or our summer Skills Hub programming under the guidance of the Head Coordinator. 

This position is for 8 weeks at a max of 35 hours for week. Wages start at 18.50/hr but those with previous experience have the opportunity to make more. Hours are flexible, either as the team lead for the morning shift (8:30am-2pm), or the team lead for the evening shift (2-7:30pm). As team lead you lead a group of program facilitators in delivering friendly, educational, and exciting programming. 

Assistant Coordinators will be expected to help aid in day-day office administration such as answer phone calls, answer patron inquiries about programming either in person or through email, help handle registration, payments, and social media promotions. You will also aid in building maintenance and set up/take down of spaces for events or classes. 

Assistant Coordinators will also help in planning programming and weekly activities for either the Skills Hub or the Community Adventure Program. They will either help lead or supervise programming depending on skill set. Assistant Coordinator have the opportunity to lead classes in art such as ceramics and painting (or others depending on skill set we aim to have a diverse skill set on staff!) Or cooking/baking. Other educational skills such as teaching a second language or tutoring are also assets! Please apply regardless of skills!

  • Has skills in arts, cooking/baking, environmental education, etc.
  • Has previous experience program coordinating with a community-centre like environment or within children's programming.

  • Must be between 15-3o years old at the start of employment. 
  • Be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act for the duration of the employment and
  • Have a valid Social Insurance Number at the start of employment and be legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant provincial or territorial legislation and regulations.
