Nutritionist – Program Support (Cook)
Job Term: Full-time - 37.5 hours weekly
Start Date: As soon as possible
Salary: To be determined
Location: Shawanaga First Nation Healing Centre
3 Months Probation
Position Summary:
The Shawanaga First Nation Healing Centre is looking to fill a position as the Nutritionist – Program Support, under the direction of the Executive Director. The Nutritionist will work as a part of the Healing Centre team and in collaboration with the Healing Centre staff. The Nutritionist will coordinate directly with the team to align meal prep with specific program needs and event schedules developing balanced meals based on nutritional standards.
Roles and Responsibilities:
· Preparing nutritious meals for programming/clients.
· Preparing meat, vegetables, garnishes, and other ingredients to be used for cooking.
· Using various kitchen gadgets and cooking methods.
· Ensuring that food items are always fresh before serving.
· Maintaining a clean/sanitized kitchen and work area.
· Ensuring utensils and kitchen equipment are left sanitized after each use.
· Keeping regular stock of the pantry and supplies when necessary.
· Menu planning for programming and events.
· Working in compliance with food safety regulations and processes.
Qualifications:
· Grade 12 High School Diploma or equivalent.
· 2+ years experience in Nutrition, Dietetics, or a related field.
· Culinary School Certification or Diploma considered an asset but is not required.
· Safe Food Handler certification.
· Physical strength and stamina to lifting and standing, ability to lift and carry up to 50lbs.
· Excellent manual dexterity.
· Strong organizational skills.
· Ability to work independently and part of a team.
· Openness to feedback and constructive criticism.
· Strong communication skills; both written and oral.
· Valid ON driver’s license.
· Other duties as assigned (within reason).
Work Conditions:
· Working in an office environment and kitchen facility.
· Flexible hours when needed, evenings and weekends.
· Interaction with employees, management, community and the public.
· Operation of a desktop computer.
Preference may be given to indigenous candidates with relevant on-reserve employment experience and/ or those with knowledge and understanding of Shawanaga First Nation history and community.
Successful candidates must be able to produce and maintain a clean Criminal Record Check
