Position Summary:

 

The Store Attendant is responsible for the day-to-day operations and ensuring all customers are greeted and treated with respect and professionalism. Participate in merchandising and promotional activities. Assist with the display and inventory management of all products. Using a POS system in order to accept all transactions. Maintaining and ensuring a high level of customer service, professionalism, and portray Shawanaga First Nation in a positive manner.

 

Key Responsibilities:

 

  • Greet customers warmly and assist them with their needs always providing exceptional customer service.
  • Operate the cash register and handle transactions accurately using POS systems.
  • Compile and balance cash receipts at the end of the day and night shifts.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the gas station/convenience store areas.
  • Inform supervisors of the need to order stock/products as required.
  • Check identification of customers to make sure they meet minimum age
  • requirements for the purchase of tobacco products and/or lottery products.
  • Assist customers with fuel purchases, ensuring safety protocols are followed.
  • Upsell products and services to enhance customer satisfaction and increase sales.
  • Assist with inventory control, restock shelves and ensure product availability and organization.

 

Qualifications and Experience:

 

  • Previous experience in customer service or retail services is preferred.
  • Strong cash handling skills with familiarity in operating POS systems.
  • Excellent phone etiquette and communication skills.
  • Must be a team player.
  • Accountable, reliable and bondable.
  • Ability to work under pressure and handle stressful situations.
  • Demonstrate time management.
  • Ability to lift-up to 50lbs.
  • Interaction with customers, the public and the community.
  • Sound knowledge of mathematical calculations.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Good judgement and problem-solving skills.
  • Computer skills.
  • Must be able to work flexible hours, including days, nights, weekends and holidays as needed.

 

Preference may be given to Indigenous candidates with relevant on-reserve employment experience and/or those with knowledge and understanding of Shawanaga First Nation history and community.

 

Successful candidates must be able to produce and maintain a clean Criminal Record Check.
