Position Summary:
We are seeking a motivated Environmental Intern to support environmental management activities at our Kearney mine. This role provides hands-on experience in environmental monitoring, compliance, and site stewardship,
The successful candidate will contribute to maintaining environmental protection systems while developing practical skills in the mining sector.
Key Responsibilities:
• Assist with environmental monitoring programs (e.g., water quality, groundwater, air, noise if applicable)
• Support sampling activities, including fieldwork, data collection, and documentation
• Maintain environmental databases and monitoring records
• Assist in preparing reports for internal use and regulatory submissions
• Support compliance with environmental permits, approvals, and applicable legislation
• Participate in site inspections and environmental audits
• Assist with waste management tracking and reporting
• Support erosion control, site drainage, and reclamation/rehabilitation activities
• Help identify environmental risks and recommend mitigation measures
• Collaborate with site personnel and contractors to promote environmental awareness
Qualifications:
• Recently completed a diploma/degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Biology, Ecology, or related discipline
• Basic understanding of environmental regulations and monitoring techniques
• Strong attention to detail and data management skills
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word)
• Ability to work in field conditions and perform physical tasks as required
• Valid driver’s license (preferred)
Working Conditions:
• Safety gear/standard PPE required in all site or production settings.
