MiND-AID is looking for a person with experience driving a Class A Motorhome or large equivalent vehicle, and who is looking for 3 seasons (spring to fall) of employment part-time (20-40 hours per week). MiND-AID is managing a mobile youth wellness hub, which is a 36ft class A motorhome modified as a drop-in space and clinic for young people looking for support for a variety of wellness needs. The Hub Driver would be tasked with maintaining the motorhome and its onboard systems, driving it to its engagements around the District of Muskoka, helping our staff set up at each stop, fueling it up and taking it for repairs. The seasonal schedule of its travels will change: In winter it is winterized and stored. In the spring and fall it will be on the road visiting local high schools over the lunch hour and after-school stops nearby at libraries, rec centres, as well as occasional random events. During the summer months, when students are not in school, the hub vehicle would make appearances at camps, farmers markets, festivals, events, community centres and libraries, on a more irregular schedule. The Hub Driver would drive it 4-5 days a week on average from spring to fall (approx. two hours for each stop location). The Hub Driver would coordinate timing and details with the hub team members who will be working with the youth at each stop. If there is experience with youth, there is also an opportunity to work with hub team to deliver programming and interact with youth at each stop.
Duties
- Maintain Class A Motorhome (Hub) vehicle & systems and organize servicing, repairs & storage
- Prepare, drive and park the Hub for community visits
- Coordinate schedule with Hub team members
- Communicate with personnel at each stop location
Skills
- Driving experience, training, skills with Class A motorhome or equivalent large vehicle and in-town as well as highway driving
- Understanding and comfort with maintenance of on-board systems of vehicle
- Strong communication, reliability, punctuality and organizational skills to coordinate with rest of team and personnel for and at each location the hub visits
- Knowledge of District of Muskoka and/or willingness to learn area
- Comfort and skill in navigation (GPS, mapping, estimating drive times and otherwise)
- Comfort and patience with downtime at each stop
- A positive approach to working with all those around you, including young people, coworkers and other stakeholders
- Experience with youth is an asset but is not necessary
Qualifications
- Safe driving record
- Driver training is an asset but not a requirement if there is proven skill/experience
- Must have or be willing to acquire a Vulnerable Sector Police Check for community safety
