Job Description

Summer Position: July 2nd to August 16th , 2024

SIRCH Community Services is a Certified Living Wage Employer based in Haliburton. We are a charitable organization dedicated to creating individual and community resilience.

SIRCH created a 6 week, in-person, evidence-base program called School’s Cool that increases language, psychological, social, self-help, language skills and confidence in children. Research has confirmed gains of one year of skill development, on average, through this program. School’s Cool creates positivity, inspiration and enthusiasm for children who are about to enter school in person, or who have been in JK but are struggling.

The classroom will take up to 20 children. For each classroom there will be 3 School’s Cool Instructors. School’s Cool training and certification is provided and training time paid.

We require:

  • 5 Lead Instructors
  • 10 Instructors

You will work in teams of 3, with up to 20 children.

You must be available in person from July 2nd to August 16th , 2024 at a designated school in one of these areas:

  • 3 positions in Haliburton, ON (1 Lead Instructor, 2 Instructors)
  • 6 positions in Lindsay, ON (2 Leads Instructors, 4 Instructors)

We are partnering with the Trillium Lakelands District School Board and the School’s Cool programs will be delivered in a kindergarten classroom.

Students will attend the program Mondays to Thursdays, 9:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Instructors debrief daily after program, and Friday instructors get together to share resources, strategies and do planning for the next week. Instructors work 35 hours per week with weekends off.

We are passionate about building and sustaining an inclusive and equitable working and learning environment for all students, parents and our staff.
