Duties & Qualifications:

The Role:
We are seeking a Marketing and Communications Coordinator to join our team on a six-month internship program. The role is being funded by the Digital Skills for Youth Program and they aim to combine valuable work experience and training related to digital skills for underemployed youth so that they can successfully transition and participate in the new digital economy. Specifically, the project seeks to engage youth in northern Canada and underemployed post-secondary graduates in the southern provinces enhance and develop digital and soft skills through work and training through valuable work experience that will successfully facilitate their transition into the workplace. During the work term of 23 weeks, the coordinator will learn both hard and soft skills associated with succeeding in a digital marketing environment.

Main responsibilities:
– Leverage tools such as Hootsuite to execute the deployment of content on channel
– Supported to plan and execute social media content calendars
– Manage square space websites (edit layout, change copy, add new pages)
– Manage organizational blog: coordinate internally to gather content, proof-read submitted blog posts, publish, and promote
– Create content on Canva
– Monitor comments and answer messages from our audiences on social platforms

Requirements:

Job requirements:
– Aged between 15 and 30 years (inclusive);
– A post-secondary graduate (this is not required for participants who live in Yukon, Northwest Territories or Nunavut);
– Legally entitled to work in Canada (i.e. Canadian citizen, permanent Resident or person who has been granted refugee status)What we are looking for:
– Ideally, the coordinator based in Nunavut, NWT, Yukon; or is from the Territories living in southern Canada; candidates who identity as indigenous will be given priority
– Excellent verbal and written communication skills; passionate about storytelling in the North and in rural communities
– Ability to take initiative
– Hardworking and dedicated outlook
– Outstanding multitasking abilities
– Familiarity with major social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, etc.)
– Entrepreneurial mindset is a plus
– Understanding of basic marketing principles is a plus
– College diploma or Undergraduate degree in Marketing is a plus
