Duties & Qualifications:
Greenthumbs is a small local landscaping business operating in Muskoka for the past 30 years, We are currently seeking motivated, reliable candidates with a passion for working outdoors and a desire to be part of a small, dedicated team that would love to share their passion with you.

Offering: Three vacancies – 30 to 40 hours per week, from May to October. Salary $14 – $18.00/ hour. We try to avoid working weekends, but workdays as well as start and finish time may fluctuate with weather conditions.

Duties: Weeding, mulching, cultivating, deadheading, pruning and dividing plants; Planting flowers, shrubs and trees; Edging & fertilizing gardens; Loading and unloading plants, soil and other gardening materials; Carting and spreading topsoil and other materials; Watering plants and monitoring for pests and disease. There may be some grass cutting, raking and leaf blowing.

Environment: Wet/damp/cold/hot/humid/dirty and lovely, breezy summer days in beautiful Muskoka. Tools will be supplied but you will have to provide mosquito/black fly protection if you require it. Sunglasses and hats must be worn to protect from sun exposure.

Transportation: Successful applicant must be able to get to job site location or meet at owner’s location to car pool.

Work Conditions and Physical Capabilities:
Fast-paced environment; Ability to walk, stand, crouch, kneel for long periods of time and carry out various strenuous physical tasks; Repetitive motions; Ability to lift bags of soil/manure and heavy plants; Physically demanding; Manual dexterity; Attention to detail; Hand-eye co-ordination; Strong knowledge of safe work practices and procedures.

I will provide friendly, courteous, respectful management and on-site training to the right candidate. You will provide a positive attitude, a willingness to learn, the ability to work independently and share your knowledge graciously. You will be dependable, reliable, have a genuine love of gardening and at least a tolerance of all things creepy crawly.

Completion of High School Education (Grade 12) or equivalent
Post-Secondary Education in horticulture is considered a strong asset One year Practical Gardening experience is preferred
