Duties & Qualifications:
POSTS IN WAWA, PEMBROKE, IROQUOIS FALLS, PARRY SOUND, LINDSAY, HUNSTVILLE, GERALDTON
The Language Monitors Program is a paid and professional work experience of 9 months duration. Under the supervision of a teacher, language instructors work in a primary or secondary school in order to motivate, encourage the learning of the target language and enrich the lives of students. We are looking for French speaking assistants wishing to work in Ontario. We encourage all Francophones to apply, whether their mother tongue is French or not. Roles and responsibilities :
• Prepare activities focused on learning the language and culture
• Motivate students to learn French
• Share your culture through art, music, stories, games, etc.
Please note: language monitors are NOT a substitute for teachers
Compensation :
• $ 25,000 for 9 months (September 2020 to May 2021)
• 25 hours of work per week (Monday to Friday)

Requirements:
Eligibility criteria :
To be eligible for the Odyssey program, you must:
• Have strong linguistic skills in French OR in English, both oral and written;
• Have Canadian citizenship or permanent resident status; and
• Have completed, before the start of your mandate, at least one full year of post-secondary studies in the last 10 years, regardless of field of study. If you are currently studying in Quebec, you must have completed two years of college studies or one university year, always within the last 10 years.
Note: Bilingualism is NOT a prerequisite and there is no age limit to apply.
Desirable assets:
• Creativity and enthusiasm to share your language and your culture
• Experience working, volunteering, mentoring or mentoring children or young people
• Travel experience or participation in exchange programs
• Basic language skills in your official second language of Canada
