Financial Comptroller – Auto Dealership

Mac Lang (Sundridge) Ltd is seeking a Financial Controller to manage the finance and accounting departments at our dealership. We are looking for an experienced Controller, to undertake all aspects of financial management, including corporate accounting, regulatory and financial reporting, budget, and forecasts preparation, as well as development of internal control policies and procedures.

About Mac Lang (Sunridge) Ltd:

Mac Lang is a thriving new and used vehicle dealership in sunny Sundridge, Ontario. It was founded in in 1932 by Willard Lang. Willard’s son Mac took over operations in the early 60’s and the dealership was renamed Mac Lang. Mac added the famous “Sells For Less” slogan that we still stand by today. The Farquhar family purchased the dealership in 1979 and has owned it ever since. Mac Lang is one of the leading RAM, Jeep, Chrysler, Dodge dealerships in Central and Northern Ontario.

About Sundridge:
Sundridge is a town of approximately 1000 residents on the west shore of beautiful Lake Bernard. The town is located approximately 60 kilometers north of Huntsville and 65 kilometres south of North Bay. Fresh air and clean water are at your doorstep. Hiking, ATV and snowmobile trails are literally steps away. Fishing is plentiful on the many surrounding lakes. Primary and secondary schools are in town or within a 15-minute drive. Downtown Sundridge features an assortment of stores and award-winning dining, access to Lion’s Park and the beach.

Role of the Financial Controller:

  •  Serve as the messenger between the accounting and finance departments, and ownership
  • Evaluate auditing systems in place and modify whenever necessary
  •  Develop models and projections to estimate what finances will look like over the course of a year
  •  Oversee and administer payroll
  •  Hire, manage, and train new staff members
  •  Administer health benefits
  •  Prepare financial statements, analyses, and reports
  • Make recommendations for improving policies and systems in place
  •  Ensure optimal profitability for the corporation
  •  Manage all accounting operations including Billing, A/R, A/P, GL and Counsel, Cost Accounting, Inventory Accounting and Revenue Recognition
  •  Monthly Budget and Sales Review with Sales, Service and Parts Departments
  •  Coordinate and direct the preparation of the budget and financial forecasts and report variances
  •  Establish capital expenditure and operational expenditure GL’s for departmental budgets
  •  Prepare and publish timely monthly financial statements
  •  Coordinate the preparation of regulatory reporting
  •  Research technical accounting issues for compliance
  • Support month-end and year-end close process
  •  Ensure quality control over financial transactions and financial reporting
  •  Manage and comply with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings
  • Develop and document business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls.
  •  Additional duties as assigned by ownership
