Wages: $720.00 - $840.00 per week (based on 40-hour week)
Duties & Qualifications:

CNIB Lake Joe is a fully accessible lakefront facility located in Muskoka, Ontario providing a unique blend of recreation, skills training, social interaction and personal discovery in a safe, inclusive environment. Two hours north of Toronto, Lake Joe stretches over 12.5 acres of waterfront property on the northwest corner of beautiful Lake Joseph. Staff and volunteers provide a wide range of high-quality programs to people of all ages who are living with sight loss.

Job Description:

The Area Head, Waterfront will provide support to the planning, supervision and facilitation of all waterfront programs, with a focus on providing the best possible guest experience. This position is responsible for providing leadership and training to staff and volunteers to ensure guests are provided a safe and exceptional experience during all waterfront programming.

  • Provide clear direction to lifeguards and lifeguard assistants regarding their duties and responsibilities
  • Coordinate waterfront and/or watersports programming and activities to ensure programs are delivered to the highest standards
  • Ensure all Ontario Camps Association (OCA) waterfront standards and Lifesaving Society standards are adhered to at all times
  • Manage personnel files on all waterfront staff including the verification of valid certifications
  • Manage and support staff in maintaining daily waterfront and water vessel safety check and records
  • Ensure safety at the waterfront by supporting and maintaining lifeguard rotation and ensuring all waterfront safety equipment is in good working condition
  • With guest safety as priority, establish and enforce safety procedures among staff, volunteers, guests and other visitors
  • Assist and/or lead waterfront programming, as assigned
  • Other duties as assigned


  • Strong interpersonal skills, including patience and communication
  • Experience working at an Ontario Camps Association (OCA) camp, an asset
  • Ability to resolve conflict and take a lead role in emergency situations
  • Must have current National Lifeguard (NLS) certification. Waterfront designation, an asset.
  • Current (within 6 months of start date) Vulnerable Sector Police Record Check
  • Current Standard First Aid and CPR-C
  • Current Pleasure Craft Operator card (PCO)
  • Ability to train use of rescue boat and paddle boards
  • Ability to work flexible hours and work outdoors for long periods of time
  • Must reside at CNIB Lake Joe during operational season and be willing to share accommodations with another staff member
