Wages: $720.00-$840.00 per week (based on 40-hour week)

CNIB Lake Joe is a fully accessible lakefront facility located in Muskoka, Ontario providing a unique blend of recreation, skills training, social interaction and personal discovery in a safe, inclusive environment. Two hours north of Toronto, Lake Joe stretches over 12.5 acres of waterfront property on the northwest corner of beautiful Lake Joseph. Staff and volunteers provide a wide range of high-quality programs to people of all ages who are living with sight loss.

 

Job Description:

The Program Area Head, Leadership and Special Programs will lead and support the planning and facilitation of our leadership programs (i.e., Counsellor-In-Training, Canadian Leadership Development Program) and special programs (i.e., arrival nights, camp-wide games, evening programs and pop-up programming). The candidate will support program facilitators and volunteers to ensure that guests have a safe and engaging experience while at Lake Joe.

  • Plan, manage and facilitate special programs for guests of all ages
  • Coordinate the delivery of leadership programming to campers
  • Manage program resources and equipment to ensure everything is in good working order
  • Ensure Ontario Camps Association (OCA) programming standards are adhered to at all times
  • Provide leadership to program facilitators, including supervision, mentoring, coaching and support
  • Provide clear communication to all guests, including program announcements and any changes to the programs
  • Communicate clear expectations to staff and volunteers about their roles and responsibilities before, during and after the program
  • Other duties as assigned

Requirements

Qualifications:

  • Strong interpersonal skills including patience and communication
  • Experience working in camp or other recreation programs
  • Knowledge of Ontario Camps Association accreditation standards, an asset
  • Experience supervising and coaching others
  • Must have good organizational, planning and leadership skills
  • Current (within 6 months of start date) Vulnerable Sector Police Record Check
  • Current Standard First Aid and CPR “C”
  • Swimming certifications such as Bronze Cross or NLS, an asset
  • Challenge course or high ropes experience, an asset
  • Pleasure Craft Operator Card (PCO), an asset
  • Ability to work flexible hours in a changing and busy environment
  • Must reside at CNIB Lake Joe during operational season and be willing to share accommodations with another staff member
