West Parry Sound Hospice is a charitable non-profit organization who’s specially trained volunteers and staff who help people with a life threatening illness by providing compassionate presence, practical support and education in palliative care.

 

Coordinator of Volunteers (part-time)

 

The Coordinator of Volunteers is responsible for the development, coordination and management of volunteer services for West Parry Sound Region. This includes recruiting, training, supporting and recognizing volunteers as well as supporting Client Services by matching some volunteers to new clients who are in need of Hospice home support. Once the Residential Hospice is open volunteers will be needed to fulfil various tasks in the smooth operation of this facility.

 

Planning and organizing fundraising events to support Hospice West Parry Sound

 

The successful candidate will be a mature, sensitive and energetic person who is at ease working with end of life care issues.

 

Qualifications

  • Demonstrated ability in the management of volunteer services
  • Graduate of a university or a community college program in health/social services, or the equivalent of post-secondary education with professional experience in community work and volunteer activities.
  • Minimum 2 years experience in the palliative care/hospice field, as well as community work.
  • Proven organizational and administrative skills including a working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and data base programs such as Access.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Proven ability in the development and delivery of adult education.
  • Highly motivated, with the ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Public relations/networking/public speaking.
  • Knowledge of community resources.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours, some evening work is required.
  • Valid Drivers Licence and vehicle.
